Health Policy Committee
Chair: Ross Dwinell, Cypress Benefit Administrators
The rising cost of health care and health insurance is an unsustainable burden on Oregon businesses and families. New federal legislation will require all citizens to have health insurance benefits or face penalties starting in 2014; it is essential that Oregon find a way to reduce costs while maintaining access and quality.
During the 2012 Legislative Session, OBA is advocating for Health Insurance Exchange and Health Care Transformation. To that end, OBA has been busy bringing together employers — ranging from Oregon’s large companies like Intel to small business leaders like Portland Transmission Warehouse — with Oregon’s health care insurers and providers to come to consensus on a set of guiding principles for the Exchange and Transformation that will increase quality and access while reducing the cost of health care.
